There have been many times in my life when I've considered starting a blog.
I've certainly envied those who make a living from blogging because of how much freedom it seems to allow them. Especially travel bloggers. Who wouldn't want to be paid to travel the world and tell everyone about it!? Despite how lucky I've been in the past few years, in having the opportunity to travel to plenty of new and wonderful places, I really don't feel confident in my ability to write a travel blog that would ultimately be helpful to anyone... People come to blogs to be inspired or learn things. As much as I love it, I'm just not traveling nearly often or well enough to feel like some sort of authority in it.
For the past few months, however, I've been on a path to sustainable living. It's a slow going journey with tons of trial and error. There's seriously so many awesome products out there, and also so many that aren't so great. I figured that, if not for any more than my own personal benefit, it might be worthwhile to record my experiences in trying out all of these new things. Maybe it will help someone who's thinking about taking their first steps into living sustainably. After all, it's not about a few people doing this stuff perfectly; it's about all of us starting with something small, and then maybe it grows. Even the smallest single action makes a difference. If you don't believe me, watch any movie that involves time travel. Think about it! Those guys are always freaking out about doing one little thing that will completely alter time. Ya see?
I don't have to tell you that the world is weird right now. When I originally decided to start a blog we didn't really know we were facing a worldwide pandemic... Even earlier this month when I decided that today would be the day that I launched my blog, I had no idea that Colorado would be in the middle of a shelter-in-place order. I considered postponing because it feels a little weird discussing anything other than COVID-19... However, considering that the EPA has further loosened environmental protections in light of COVID-19, it's possibly more pertinent than ever to discuss what we can do for the environment.
My goal with this blog will be to release one post each week, spotlighting a specific brand or product* that I've tried, or a way that I've changed my daily actions to become more sustainable. Like I mentioned before, it's been a pretty slow process of testing things out since I work for a living and don't have endless resources, so I'm still working on finding the best products for me. But no time like the present right?! Welcome to my blog.
*I'm not *currently* sponsored by any of the brands that I'm going to discuss.
